Room and Board

Where do I stay?

You can either stay at the Turtle Bay Hotel where the teacher training will take place or we can recommend vacation rentals through VRBO.com

Where is training located?

The training is located at Turtle Bay Resort:

57-091 Kamehameha Highway Kahuku, Oahu, HI 96731

The resort is about 15 minutes away from Haleiwa town on the North Shore. You can either stay at the Turtle Bay Hotel where the teacher training will take place or we can recommend vacation rentals through VRBO.com

Will I have a roomate?

It is up to each individual participant. It is not required, but it is available.

Do I book my own room?

Yes, but we can assist. There is a group rate available at the Turtle Bay Hotel and we can provide suggestions for vacation rentals.

Are my meals included?

Lunch is provided M-F. All other meals are your responsibility. There are several great restaurants at Turtle Bay Resort. In addition, we will be facilitating weekly trips to the local grocery store, about 15 minutes away.

Should I rent a car?

It is not necessary to rent a car. We will arrange for airport transportation to your lodging. If you decide you would like to rent a car, there is a Hertz center at the Turtle Bay Hotel or we can arrange one for you at a later time.

How far are we from the Honolulu International Airport?

Approximately 1 hour.

How far do we stay from the nearest grocery store?

15 minute car ride. We will be assisting with grocery store trips and food requirements.

Will we have internet access?

The hotel has several computers available for your use. Each room has internet capabilities for an extra daily fee. If you are not staying at the hotel, vacation rentals usually have internet access, but check ahead of time when booking.

What should I bring in my suitcase?

Yoga clothing, yoga mat, teacher training books and writing supplies. Average weather during the summer months ranges from 70 degrees at night and up to 90 degrees during the day.

What else is there to do in my free time?

Will there be a massage therapist available?

Yes, the Turtle Bay has a full service spa with massage therapists on call. We can also provide a list of local massage therapists as well.

Training

What is our daily schedule?

Monday-Friday

730-800 am Morning Meditation on the beach (weather permitting)

9:00 to 11:00 Yoga Practice

11 to 1 lunch

1 to 4:30 Afternoon session

week 1 – Asana – Technique – surya a/b & moon (T/TM)

week 2 – Asana – standing postures/balancing (T/TM)

week 3 – Anatomy – lecture/presentation with some movement

week 4 – Group teaching – practicum

(lecture, practice teaching, group work, anatomy and physiology, etc)

430 to 600 Yoga Practice

600 to 730 Dinner and Evening break

730 to 900 Evening Session

Every Tuesday & Thursday Satsang

Saturday night social event

Saturday HALF DAY

9 to 12:00 Yoga Practice and Discussion

How many hours a day do we practice yoga/asana?

3.5 hours.

What type of yoga will I be certified to teach?

Hatha Vinyasa yoga. This is a vinyasa yoga training with a focus on Iyengar Alignment.

What does my certification mean?

You will have successfully completed a 200 hour yoga teacher training and education program that is aligned with Yoga Alliance’s standards.

Will I be registered with Yoga Alliance when I am finished with the training?

No. However we will supply you with the necessary paper work and upon filling it out and mailing it in with your registration fee, you will be registered with Yoga Alliance.

Do I have to teach yoga when I am finished with the training?

No.

How long is the training program?

1 month.

Will we have homework?

Yes.

WIll there be nightly activities planned?

Yes and weekend activities as well! But you will have plenty of leisure time, including Sundays completely free.

If I have injuries, can I still come?

Yes, but please describe your injuries in detail on the application for the teacher training.

Cost

How much does the training cost?

$3,000

There is a $500 nonrefundable deposit due upon application submission to hold your spot

Additional $1000 due 1 month prior to start date of training

Remaining $1500 due 1 week prior to start date of training

What does the price include?

Teacher training education and lunch Monday-Friday
